Ode to Acetaminophen

11/20/08 | by Charlie [mail] | Categories: The Life, The Mind

So I'm still sick, which is going to ruin my Thanksgiving break. The Health services people have ruled out basically everything except mono. So I went and got blood drawn for that. Unfortunately, I failed my Strep Tests worse than my Philosophy tests....downer. Anyways, to prove that I'm not letting whatever I have get the best of me, I decided to write a little song called "Ode to Acetaminophen" (the active ingredient in Tylenol). In reality, I'm alternating Ibuprofen and that, but it's just such a cool name. Anyways, this is sung to the tune of some song, maybe "Ode to a Superhero" by Wierd Al, or just make up a tune, or read it as beat poetry. Anything should convey the message, song after the hop...

Nosebleeds, wind chills, and infections...OH MY!

11/19/08 | by Charlie [mail] | Categories: The Life

It has been awhile since I last posted, so much has happened! We finished doing the Full Monty, which was a great show, I did some lighting design of my own, and I took more drugs than I have in the last three years. No not club drugs, my favorite drug the Z-pack. Anyways read on for more about my drug usage and life at Yale...

Through the Lens

11/11/08 | by Charlie [mail] | Categories: Photography, Yale Daily News

In what's being called the best thing since USB, YDN created a new section this week replacing the old "Week in Photos". For the past few months YDN has run the best photos from the previous week on Monday, in full color, on the back of Mondays issue.

This week, however, "Through the Lens" is beginning. It is a photo-essay done by one photographer. I elected to start things off with "Yale in Fall". The design of the page and all photos are my own work. The file is a rather large PDF (~8 MB), I have been unable to alter it with my computer being dead. But please enjoy!

Please keep in mind this is also copyright by the YDN. It may not be redistributed or printed. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THROUGH THE LENS

Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think, or ideas for future ones...

Bad News, Good News

11/10/08 | by Charlie [mail] | Categories: The Life

Good News and Bad news today. Good news first: I worked on probably the best YDN thing I've done to-date. It was "visually stunning". I'd like to get links and pictures up, however.

Bad News: I worked at YDN until 2:30 when they sent the pages in. Going home I forgot to zip my laptop pocket. Upon setting my bag down at home, it fell out about 3 feet. So I need to have that looked at today. Hopefully it will work again. Pictures soon!

Full Time, Full Monty

11/06/08 | by Charlie [mail] | Categories: Theater

First, there's a new header image for the blog...can you find it before I run out of bandwidth? That means there are now 10 different images you could be seeing, who knows...maybe I'll even have a cameo in one sometime.

Second, Gahhh. Full Monty load-in has been all this week, it's slightly ridiculous how much time it has taken. A number of calamities have befallen the production, however it looks like tonight we will *finally* be done. This was my first time working in the UT (University Theater), which is the best theater on campus. After working there, however, I made a promise to myself that I will try to never do lighting design or be Master Electrician in that space...it just takes too long.

Issues aside, the lights are amazing. All 204-some of them. I haven't seen the show yet, but I look forward to it. Last weekend, I saw Rocky Horror Picture Show...it was strange...enough said. Finally, I have my first visitor this weekend albeit briefly!!! So that should be very fun, and a welcome break from all the theater work I've done this past week.
